Seibu Lions pitcher Bo Takahashi (29), who has been selected to represent Brazil in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) to be held in March, vowed on the 6th, "I want to do my best."
This is the second time he has been selected, following the WBC qualifiers in March of last year. In the first round, Brazil has been placed in Group B with the United States, which has many players from major league teams. A tough battle is expected, but he said enthusiastically, "I'm really looking forward to playing against them, and since it's not an opportunity to experience it very often, I'm looking forward to seeing how well my pitch will do if I get the chance. I think it's really wonderful to represent my country, and although the group that Brazil is in is a really tough opponent, I want to do my best and do my best."
Bo is a third-generation Japanese-Brazilian from Sao Paulo, Brazil, with Japanese grandparents. This season marks his fifth year in Japan.
