On March 3, Rakuten Eagles and Kenta Maeda pitcher (37), who returned to the Japanese baseball world after an 11-year absence, bullpen entered the game and lifted all of their pitches.
This was his second bullpen session of the camp. He threw 30 pitches, including curveballs, slider, change-up, and two seam fastball. In bullpen on the 1st, he only threw breaking ball, but by mixing in breaking balls, he has taken another step in his preparation. "I threw all breaking ball balls I have. I was able to throw with a good feeling, and I think my accuracy will continue to improve, but for now I'm able to throw with a good feeling," he said, wiping the sweat from his brow.
He threw several slider with different curves and speeds. "I don't throw different slider with signs, I throw different sliders based on slider sign. I use different ones depending on the batter and the situation. I don't think there will be any problems if catcher catches them a few times and gets the hang of it," he said.
During his voluntary training in January, the right-hander mentioned adapting to the Japanese ball as one of his priorities. "When I threw it today, there was no problem (with the ball), but I'd like to increase the intensity from now on and improve," he said, hoping for further improvement.
