Nao Higashihama responding to an interview

His pitcher ashi Higashihama, who was traded free from Softbank Hawks to Hiroshima, was announced on the 6th for training at Mizuho PayPay Dome and participated in a group interview. He joined the team from Asia University as the first pick in the 2012 draft and The Hawks is a right-hander with a total of 76 wins over 14 years of dedicated play. "It's important to be strict with yourself and not lie to yourself. My strongest desire is to contribute to the team. The desire to pitch is my motivation for next year. I hope to turn what I've gained so far into results," he vowed to perform well in his new team.

He reportedly contacted Ohsera, who was his teammate on the Japan national university team, to ask for advice about his new life in Hiroshima. 'We have been in touch every year, so in that sense, it is reassuring. I think I will rely on him quite a bit,' he said.

Higashihama had already released a lengthy comment through the team, but he appeared before the press for a group interview that showcased his sincere personality.

The following is a comment provided through the team.

Looking back on my 14 years with The Hawks, so many things have happened. There are happy memories as well as many painful ones. I believe each and every one of them has made me who I am today. What stands out most in my mind is winning the title for most victories in 2017 and the team winning the league championship. Also, being entrusted as the opening day pitcher in 2020, when the season opening was postponed to June due to the pandemic, is an unforgettable experience for me. The reason I have been able to come this far as a player for The Hawks is thanks to the managers, coaches, staff members who supported me, and above all, the fans who gave me warm cheers at all times. I have nothing but feelings of true gratitude. Thank you very much. Speaking of the Carp, whom I will be playing for from now on, the passionate cheering of the fans filling the stands in solid red is very impressive. I want to do my absolute best to contribute to the Carp's strength, even if only a little, by utilizing the experience I have cultivated so far.
