Seibu Lions outfielder Masayuki Kuwahara (33) participated in the fall camp held at the club's facilities in Tokorozawa City, Saitama on the 5th. He performed his first full sprint since suffering a right calf muscle strain in September.

What followed was a strategy dubbed "Recall the Feeling of Good Times." To instill in his body the condition he had around the start of the 2026 season—when he recorded a .318 batting average, 27 hits, 2 Home Runs, and 8 RBIs in 85 At Bats—he devoted time to tee batting and machine batting to "confirm the force of gripping the ground and the trajectory of the bat." Having already gained a certain level of confidence, he continues to work through trial and error, aiming for even greater heights, saying, "It feels like I can get one more piece to click into place."

He moved from DeNA as a free agent last off-season. However, in his first year after the transfer this season, he suffered from injuries, including three muscle strains. He finished the season with a sense of unfinished business, appearing in 62 games with a .227 batting average, 49 hits, 3 Home Runs, and 15 RBI. Of course, this was the first time Kuwahara had experienced three muscle strains in a single year. Naturally, the shock was significant. Even so, he looked forward and worked hard on his rehabilitation, saying, 'It is a message from God telling me that I need to spend my time on something a little different.'

If things continue to progress smoothly, he is expected to leave the rehabilitation group during the fall camp. This autumn, while continuing his batting practice, he plans to put even more effort into building a body that can prevent injuries, stating, 'I need to take care of my body, but I also need to make it stronger. It's not just about making my body bigger, but about increasing my body's overall capacity.' Preparations are steadily underway for a comeback next season.
