On the 2nd, Rakuten Eagles manager Masato Yoshii visited the Rakuten Group headquarters in Tokyo with GM Kazuhisa Ishii and others to meet with owner Hiroshi Mikitani. They reported on the 2026 season and other matters. Manager Yoshii said, '(Owner Mikitani) told us that while the results were disappointing, it was a battle that will lead into next year.'

This season, the team struggled at the bottom of the standings from the very beginning. In June, former manager Miki took a leave of absence, leading to the unusual mid-season appointment of Manager Yoshii. They ultimately finished in last place with a record of 58 wins, 84 losses, and 1 draw. Nevertheless, under the new leadership, there were many positive signs toward the end of the season, such as the emergence of young talent.

Owner Mikitani praised the fact that the young players were able to gain experience. Following that, they discussed various challenges. The manager stated, "I was told that he wants me to do my best in various ways so that the players can think for themselves while playing baseball and become a true baseball team."

The conversation reportedly touched upon reinforcements as well. Manager Yoshii explained, "Regarding player reinforcements? I was asked if there were any areas lacking, so I told them, 'This part and that part are weak.'" While he remained vague about specific points, saying "it's the team as a whole," he did reveal, "If I had to say, it would be the area of power hitting."

The goal for next season is a league victory. 'It's the championship. Of course, it's the championship. There isn't a single team that isn't aiming for the title, so we will work toward winning it,' they said with emphasis.
