Taiga Kamichatani

On the 30th, Softbank Hawks pitcher Taiga Kamichatani announced his 'Beastification Plan.' Two days after winning consecutive Japan Series titles, he practiced at Mizuho PayPay Dome on this day. When asked about his theme for the off-season, he responded forcefully, 'Weights.'

This season, he prepared as a starter during the February camp, but began the season in the first squad as a reliever. After the game against Nippon-Ham on July 16th (at Es Con Field), he was reassigned to the starting rotation and recorded 8 wins, 3 losses, and an ERA of 3.26. Although it was a year where he operated at full capacity, he has already started moving, saying, 'Since we went to the Japan Series, I am behind players from other teams. I wasn't able to pitch in the Climax Series or the Japan Series.' He mentioned that he will work on a basic schedule of four days of training and one day off, revealing his goal for this off-season: '(The image is) to be more like a beast. A beast. I want to further improve the performance I can deliver even when I am not in top form.'

He ended up with no appearances in the Climax Series or the Japan Series. Looking at his starts alone, he finished the regular season with 3 wins and 3 losses. 'It was frustrating, but it was a natural decision. If you look only at the games I started, my performance wasn't good at all. My numbers weren't high enough to break into that starting rotation,' he stated flatly. He is spending the winter training to compete with players like Uwasawa, who also joined in 2024, and the closer Sugiyama, whom he calls the 'Final Boss.' Next season, he aims to earn a spot in the starting rotation from opening day.
