On the 30th, Seibu Lions developmental outfielder Okemu (20) underwent contract negotiations at the team office in Tokorozawa City, Saitama, and signed for a status quo salary of 2.8 million yen.
He joined the Seibu Lions as the 7th pick in the 2024 developmental draft from Asahikawa Shihou High School. This season, he tore his left anterior cruciate ligament during the February camp and did not appear in any farm league games. In 2025, he appeared in only one farm league game and had only one plate appearance, which resulted in a Hit by Pitch; therefore, he has only stood in the batter's box for a single plate appearance in the farm league over the past two years.
Looking ahead to his third year as a developmental player next season, he expressed his determination, saying, 'Since I wasn't able to accomplish anything this year, I want to make next year a season where I stay injury-free and can fully demonstrate everything I've been working on.'
