The Seibu Lions announced on the 30th that they have notified pitcher Yuta Nakamura (31) that they will not be renewing his contract for next season. Nakamura appeared in 23 games this season and recorded an ERA of 1.88.

Yu Nakamura commented through the team, "I feel very frustrated that we were unable to win the championship as a team. I believe this team has the strength to win, so the regret of not achieving our goal remains. On the other hand, personally, there were times when things didn't go as planned due to injury, but thanks to the support of many people, I feel I was able to achieve results that gave me a sense of confidence in my own way. I am truly grateful to everyone who supported me. Since it has been decided that I will undergo surgery in the future, I will focus on my rehabilitation so that I can stand on the mound again."
