Nippon-Ham announced on the 30th that they have reached an agreement with pitcher Nao Miyanishi (41) for next season's contract, and that he will also serve as a first-team pitching coach.

In this 19th season, he achieved his 19th consecutive year of appearances since joining the team, recording an ERA of 4.70 over 8 games. He increased his total number of appearances to 908, the fourth highest in history, following Iwase, Kaneda, and Yoneda. Even after being removed from the roster on September 23rd, he continued to travel with the first team and contributed to the team by providing advice to the pitcher staff.

Regarding the decision, he candidly revealed his inner thoughts, saying, 'To be honest, I had decided to retire, but the Boss asked if I would do one more year as both a player and a coach. I spent a month thinking about how I could contribute to The Fighters before making my decision.'

This is the first time someone has held a concurrent coaching position at the club since Shinya Tsuruoka, who served as the first-team battery coach from 2019 to 2021. In the past, individuals such as Atsunori Inaba and Satoshi Nakajima have served as concurrent coaches while being fielders, but this will be the first time in club history that someone serves as a concurrent pitcher coach. In this new role, the aim is to achieve the first championship in eleven years.
