Rakuten Eagles infielder Daiki Irie was notified on the 29th that his contract would not be renewed for next season. He visited the team office in Sendai City and accepted the decision, stating, "I think it is my own fault for not being able to produce results."
Irie joined from Sendai Ikuei as the fifth draft pick in 2020. In his sixth professional season this year, he appeared in a career-high 17 games with a batting average of .208. In the farm league, he recorded a .276 batting average, 3 Home Runs, and 21 RBI.
Regarding the future, he expressed his desire to continue his playing career. He revealed his thoughts, saying, 'At this point, that is what I am thinking. If there is a place where I can play, I intend to continue as an active player.'
Reflecting on the six years spent with the Rakuten Eagles, he said, 'When I got a hit in the first team, I received a level of cheering I had never heard before, and it gave me so much strength. I think it's something an ordinary person wouldn't be able to experience, so it left a very strong impression on me.'
