The Softbank Hawks announced on the 29th that they have notified Riku Ogata that they will not be renewing his standard player contract for the upcoming season.
Ogata joined the Softbank Hawks as the 5th pick in the 2020 developmental draft and earned a spot on the active roster in March 2024 alongside Yuto Kawamura and Keisuke Nakata (now with the Seibu Lions). After appearing in 86 games that same year, he played in 101 games last season, recording a .216 batting average, 6 RBI, and 8 stolen bases. However, he was limited to only 14 games this season.
