SMBC Japan Series 2026 Game 4: Softbank Hawks vs. DeNA (28th, Mizuho PayPay)
The Softbank Hawks players, who were crowned consecutive Japanese champions, held a beer-spraying celebration inside Mizuho PayPay Dome starting after 10:30 PM. Following speeches by Manager Kokubo and others, the festivities began with a shout from Player Association Chairman Kurihara. They shared their joy at the victory celebration, where 3,000 bottles of beer, 20 bottles of sake, 4 barrels, 240 bottles of cola, and 1 bottle of champagne were prepared.
They achieved revenge by winning four consecutive games against DeNA, who they lost to in the Japan Series two years ago, marking their 13th title overall. They have now won eight consecutive Japan Series games since defeating the Hanshin Tigers 4-1 last year. They demonstrated overwhelming strength, becoming the first in history to win the Japan Series with a perfect 7-0 record in the post-season, including the Climax Series.
Last year, due to a system failure at Asahi Group Holdings, a 'champagne fight' was held instead of the traditional beer shower. After winning the final stage of this year's Climax Series, the beer shower made its return.
