On the 26th, the Softbank Hawks announced that they will not sign roster contracts for the next season with six players: infielder Yuto Akihiro, pitcher Shunsuke Iwai, pitcher Toshiya Nakamura, pitcher Shun Antoku, pitcher Masato Sagara, and pitcher Taisei Kimura.
Akihiro joined from The Giants last May along with Oe via a trade. In his second year with the team this season, he appeared in 97 farm league games, recording a batting average of .205 and 10 Home Runs, but finished the season without any first-team appearances.
Iwai, the 2023 second-round draft pick, appeared in five games this season. Nakamura, who joined from Lotte through this season's active player draft, also appeared in seven games but was left out of the plans for next season. Kimura, who joined from Hokkai High School as the 2021 third-round draft pick, did not make any first-team appearances during his five years with the team.
Antoku, the 2024 third-round draft pick, and Sagara, the 2025 fourth-round draft pick, have both undergone medial collateral ligament reconstruction surgery (commonly known as Tommy John surgery) and are currently training with the rehabilitation group.
The team is believed to have offered re-contracts as developmental players to five individuals: Akihiro, Iwai, Kimura, Antoku, and Sagara.
