The Orix Buffaloes announced on the 26th that they have notified pitcher Kaede Yokoyama (28) that they will not be renewing his standard player contract for the upcoming season.

He joined from Sega Sammy as the 6th draft pick in 2021. After receiving a release notice in the 2024 off-season, he returned to the active roster in July 2025. Producing many struck out batters with his unique short take-back, he recorded 2 wins, 4 holds, and an ERA of 1.10 in 14 games that year. This season, he had 1 win and 1 loss with an ERA of 3.00 in 7 games.

Due to issues with his right elbow, he was removed from the active roster on April 24. In August, he underwent medial collateral ligament reconstruction surgery (commonly known as Tommy John surgery) on his right elbow, and he is currently spending his days focusing on rehabilitation at the Maishima facility in Osaka.

He has appeared in 25 professional games, recording 3 wins, 2 losses, 5 holds, and an ERA of 2.42. It is expected that he will be offered a developmental contract for next season. 'I was told to focus on fully recovering from my injury. I haven't decided on my future yet, but I am thinking positively,' he emphasized. He also expressed his gratitude, saying, 'I am truly thankful for being allowed to have the surgery. Given my age, I want to be patient while maintaining a sense of urgency. I hope to be able to pitch by the end of next year,' as he vowed to make a complete comeback.
