Seibu Lions outfielder Shinya Hasegawa (24) vowed on the 25th to become a prolific note-taker during the Samurai Japan training camp starting November 3rd.

He is determined to absorb everything. On this day, he participated in autumn practice held at the team facility in Tokorozawa City, Saitama. This is his first time being selected for the national team, including his time at Tsuruga Kehi in Fukui, and his eyes sparkled as he said, 'I especially want to ask Misho Nishikawa (Lotte), Masaki (Softbank Hawks), and Yamaguchi (Lotte). I hope to ask about fine details such as how they drive the ball, their swing trajectory, reading the pitch sequence, and how they wait for the ball.'

Although he says he is usually shy around strangers, he declared, 'When I realize I can only talk to them during that specific period, I can't afford to be shy, so I'm going to go for it.' He added, 'Since I tend to forget things, I plan to prepare my questions in advance and take thorough notes to organize them in a notebook. I don't think it's a place where I can use my phone, so I want to stick to writing.' At this stage where young players who carry the future of Japanese baseball gather, he will create his own unique 'Samurai Notebook.' (Ayami Ohnaka)
