Nippon-Ham selected pitcher Haruki Komoda (Yamanashi Gakuin) as their first-round pick. It was a solo selection with no competition. Manager Tsuyoshi Shinjo appeared wearing a double-breasted black suit, a black shirt, a purple tie, and light-colored sunglasses, without his trademark mask. After taking his seat, he removed his sunglasses and put on a black mask to watch the proceedings. When Komoda's solo selection was confirmed, he clapped his hands and showed a joyful smile.

Nippon-Ham selected outfielder Sho Mure from Kyushu Kokusai University High School in the second round and pitcher Ryosuke Sueyoshi from Okinawa Shogaku in the third round. When the selection of rostered players concluded with pitcher Shoto Okamoto from Korigaoka in the fifth round, Manager Shinjo left the venue looking satisfied, showing a smile to those around him.
