Seibu Lions pitcher Kaima Taira participated in autumn training held in Tokorozawa City, Saitama on the 20th.

On this day, after warming up, they made adjustments by playing a light game of catch.

In his ninth professional season, he appeared in 23 games, compiling a record of 12 wins and 5 losses with ERA of 1.36, earning his first-ever ERA title. Reflecting on the season, he said, "In terms of pitcher 's job of closer runs allowed, I think I did well in closer runs allowed the most."

Regarding his desire to challenge Major League Baseball, which he has been conveying to the team since the 2019 off-season, he explained, "I tell the club every year that I want to go. Since it would involve the posting system (if it happens this off-season), it is not my right to decide. I think it depends on the club." He also mentioned that he has already had a direct conversation with Director and General Manager Hiroike following the end of the season.

This off-season, the current collective bargaining agreement in Major League Baseball is set to expire on December 1st, and it is expected that a lockout will follow. While there is a possibility that negotiations could be prolonged, the right-hander commented, 'Well, I wonder how it will go. Regardless of whether that happens or not, it's my first time, so I just want to go when I can. I've always wanted to be the kind of player that teams want regardless of the timing, and I feel like I'm getting closer to that every year.' He continues to quietly prepare for the time to come.
