2026 PERSOL Climax Series Pacific League First Stage Game 3: Seibu Lions 1-4 Nippon-Ham (12th, Belluna Dome)

Overcoming two accidents, Nippon-Ham pitcher Hiromi Ito (29) seized the victory. Entrusted with the start in a do-or-die battle, he said, "I felt like it was coming down to a desperate situation. I really put my heart into it." After a performance as a closer for 5 innings with 1 runs, he became the winning pitcher to advance to the final stage and expressed relief, saying, "There was no tomorrow. It feels great."

In the third inning, after handling a batted ball, he retreated to the dugout, saying, "When I grabbed the rosin, I felt a slight twinge in my lower back." In the fifth inning, a line drive hit him directly on the inside of his left leg. He went back for treatment again but returned to the mound. "I think it would be difficult during the regular season, but I couldn't imagine handing it over there," he said, volunteering to continue pitching. He finished the inning and said, "I'm glad I was able to come back with minimum runs." The ace's pride served as a guidepost to the win.

Fortunately, there were no major issues with the affected area. He has no plans to see a doctor, stating, "I feel like I've lost if I go to the hospital." Regarding the final stage, where he might pitch depending on how the series unfolds, he declared, "I haven't pitched enough yet. I want to believe and be prepared." He will get into the best possible condition and wait for that moment.
