It was revealed on the 12th that Seibu Lions pitcher Kaima Taira (26) aims to move to the Major Leagues this offseason using the posting system (PS). The club is expected to approve the transfer in consideration of his contributions to date, making it the second consecutive year for the team following Tatsuya Imai (Astros), who moved last year on a three-year deal totaling 54 million dollars (approximately 8.538 billion yen).

He joined the Seibu Lions as the 4th draft pick in 2017 from Yaeyama Commercial and Technical High School in Okinawa. He accumulated a career total of 111 holds and 62 saves, earning the title of best reliever in 2022 and most saves in 2025. In his 9th season this year, he challenged himself as a starter again, recording 12 wins and 5 losses in 23 games with an ERA of 1.36, winning the title for best ERA.

The earliest he can acquire international free agency rights is the 2028 season. During last off-season's contract negotiations, looking ahead to the end of this season, he stated, 'I want to go as soon as possible, but I want to contribute significantly to The Lions and produce results so that the post-season posting system is approved.' Following the team's lose on the 12th, Director and General Manager Hiroike remarked, 'I can understand wanting to aim higher after performing exceptionally well. I receive his desire to move to the Major Leagues every year. However, I have consistently told him that it must come after he has made a solid contribution to the team, and I believe he is working hard for that purpose.' One MLB scout highly evaluated him, saying he will receive a contract exceeding Imai's, and there is a high possibility of a bidding war among multiple clubs.

It was also revealed that pitcher Kona Takahashi (29) is carefully considering exercising the overseas free agent rights he acquired this season. He joined the team as the first-round draft pick in 2014 from Maebashi Ikuei. In his 12th season this year, he recorded 9 wins and 6 losses with a 2.54 ERA in 22 games, including 3 complete games. Last season, he remained with the team despite being granted permission to move to the major leagues via the posting system.
