Rakuten Eagles announced on the 9th that outfielder Daisuke Nakashima underwent autologous osteochondral transplantation and lateral patellar retinaculum release on his left knee, as well as right patellar ligament synovectomy, at a hospital in Chiba Prefecture on the 8th. Moving forward, he will aim for a return to play while monitoring his recovery progress.

Nakajima struggled at the beginning of this season, his second as a professional, but his performance improved as the season progressed, and he reached the required number of plate appearances for the second consecutive year.
