The roster for Samurai Japan, which will compete in the 'Luxas Asia Professional baseball Championship 2026' (November 12-15 at Tokyo Dome), was announced on the 7th.
From the Pacific League three-time consecutive champions Softbank Hawks, infielder Yudai Shoji and pitcher Gota Suzuki were selected, along with outfielder Tomoya Masaki as an overage player. All three players, who have been selected for the Japan national team for the first time, shared their thoughts through the club. Their comments are as follows.
Masaki: "I am very happy to be selected for the Japan national team. Since I expect to be one of the older players, I want to maintain a strong sense of awareness and responsibility. I will do my best to demonstrate my full potential, not only through my play but also by becoming a leader who can pull the team forward."
Shoji: "This is the first time I have been selected for the national team, so I am honestly very happy. Since I have been chosen to represent both The Hawks and my generation, I want to approach this with a sense of responsibility and a strong mindset. I want people to see my speed and defense, which are my strengths."
Go Suzuki: "I am very happy to have been selected for the Japan National Team. I feel extremely honored to be given such an experience in my first year as a professional. I want to work hard in my own way so that I can deliver solid results in whatever situation I am placed in."
