Orix Buffaloes pitcher Andrés Machado has earned his first career title for most saves. In his third year with the team, he contributed to his first world championship as a member of the Venezuelan national team in the WBC before the season began. After the season started, he continued to deliver stable pitches as a closer, recording an excellent performance of 35 saves, 7 holds, and a 1.20 ERA across 51 games. He shared the title with Softbank Hawks' Sugiyama and Lotte's Yokoyama. The foreign right-hander, who returned home on the 3rd, released a comment of joy through the club.
I am very happy and excited to have won the title for most saves. Winning the save leader title is something very special for me and my family. It is also an honor to share this title with two wonderful players, Sugiyama and Yokoyama. I would like to offer my congratulations to both of them as well. This has truly been a fantastic year in my career. Thank you very much.
