Seibu Lions Kaima Taira pitcher was awarded the Pacific League Best ERA of the 2026 season on the 5th. "I think the defense has its merits, and in the end, it was good that runs was closer," he said with joy.

In this season, having returned to the starting rotation, he appeared in 23 games, recording 12 wins and 5 losses with a phenomenal ERA of 1.36. This was a feat not seen by a pitcher in the organization for 69 years, since Kazuhisa Inao (1.37) in 1957.

In his final regular season appearance this season against the Orix Buffaloes on September 29th (Belluna Dome), he showed a tenacious pitch, recording 7 strike out, 4 hit, and 1 runs over 7 innings, earning his 12th win of the season and reaching the required innings pitched. He proudly stated, 'Having worked as a starter, I feel I was definitely able to contribute more than when I was a reliever, so I think I can be confident about that.'
