Seibu Lions pitcher Chihiro Sumida (27) participated in team practice held at Belluna Dome on the 4th and played catch at a distance of about 40 meters.

Regarding the condition of his left forearm, which was injured by a direct hit from a batted ball during the Rakuten Eagles game on September 28 (Belluna Dome), he explained, "It feels like my grip strength has mostly returned. The swelling has subsided considerably. I believe I am recovering." The team has already secured a spot in the Climax Series (CS) First Stage, which begins on the 10th. Regarding his future schedule, including bullpen pitch sessions in preparation for a starting appearance in the CS, he did not give a definitive answer, stating, "I don't know. It depends on the injury," but it appears certain that he is on the road to recovery.

The team will face Lotte (ZOZO) on the 5th and 6th. If they achieve at least a draw in either game, they will secure second place in the Pacific League. In that case, they will host third-place Nippon-Ham at their home stadium for the CS First Stage.
