Seibu Lions Shuta Tonosaki On February 31, the player chairman (33) expressed his enthusiasm for the spring training camp that starts on February 1, saying, "I want to take pride and go for a regular spot.

Last season, after switching to third baseman, he played in 115 games with a batting average of .234. He struggled on both offense and defense, and from the middle of the season onwards he mainly played in outfield.

During contract negotiations last December, he declared, "If it's just my personal preference, I'd like to play second baseman" and that feeling remains unchanged. With Ishii, who was the starting second baseman for Nippon-Ham last season, joining the team, competition is expected to intensify, but he vowed, "I want to compete hard there. I had some frustrating experiences playing third base last year. I want to go back to second baseman and take on the starting position with pride."
