On the 31st, Seibu Lions arrived in Miyazaki for their spring training camp, which will be held in Nango, Nichinan City from February 1st. A welcome ceremony was held at Miyazaki Airport.
Nichinan Mayor Takahashi Toru said, "Tomorrow marks the start of spring baseball in Nango. This year, I hear Saitama Seibu Lions team slogan is 'breaking through', which means overcoming your own abilities. I hope you eat lots of delicious food, and practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, and I sincerely hope that The Lions will return to their strong, powerful form." With a passionate message reminiscent of Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's "Work, work..." line, he encouraged the team, which finished in fifth place last season.
Coach Nishiguchi said, "I'm back, everyone in Miyazaki Prefecture! It's hard to say this out loud, so I'll whisper it here: I'm back. For about a month from tomorrow, we'll be here in Miyazaki, making thorough preparations to fight through the entire season. Nango Stadium is a bit of a distance away, but I hope fans will be able to see the players practicing. Many players will be there this time, so I hope fans will come to Nango Stadium two or three times. I hope you will find your favorite player and come back many times. I look forward to your continued support this year." He encouraged fans to "support their favorite players" and expressed his determination.
