Softbank Hawks announced the launch of the "FUKUOKA OH SADAHARU LEGACY PROJECT" - a project to pass on the culture of The Hawks to the next generation, starting with [89]. The inaugural press conference was held at the Oh Sadaharu Baseball Museum in Fukuoka City, with CBO Kenji Jojima, one of the founders of the new project, in attendance. Having fought together as a manager and a player, he revealed that he would like to pass the culture on to the next generation, saying, "I want to pass it on to the children who are playing sports, not just to baseball.

Oh, who is currently the club's chairman, became manager of Daiei (now Softbank Hawks) in 1995 and managed for 14 years until 2008. For CBO Jojima, who joined Daiei in 1995, Oh was his first manager after turning pro. "They say that birds consider the first thing they see to be their parent. I was incredibly lucky that my first father and manager as a professional baseball player was Oh Sadaharu. Oh Sadaharu taught me everything I knew about baseball, being a professional baseball player, and being a man," he said, expressing his admiration.

Now, in his role as chairman and CBO, he exchanges opinions about the development of the baseball team, but with a wry smile he said, "I'm still scared of him (laughs). No matter how old you get, my dad is still scary." During his playing days, he felt his greatness as a player, and now he said with admiration, "The chairman was the manager (at the time), and he was doing my job and PR activities, and I really think he was doing many roles by himself. I've been really feeling the greatness of Oh Sadaharu lately."

OH SADAHARU LEGACY DAY" will be held on May 24 against Nippon-Ham (Mizuho Peipay). The Hawks All players of number "89" will wear special "89" uniforms for the game. All the players of OH SADAHARU will wear special "89" uniforms for the game, and replica uniforms of the same design will be distributed to the spectators as well. I've been dreaming of the day when the whole stadium will be filled with 89, so I'm looking forward to that day coming soon," said CBO Jojima.
