On the 30th, Softbank Hawks announced the launch of the "FUKUOKA OH SADAHARU LEGACY PROJECT - Passing on The Hawks' culture to the next generation, starting with the number 89." The launch press conference was held at the Oh Sadaharu Baseball Museum in Fukuoka City, with CBO Kenji Jojima in attendance. He expressed his hope that "the number 89 will become a special number for the city of Fukuoka."

The "89" that Chairman Wang wore when he was a coach was established as a number that symbolizes the "baseball of The Hawks". As a general rule, it is not worn by a specific player, manager, or coach, and is effectively treated as a "permanent number". On May 24th, the Nippon-Ham match (Mizuho PayPay) will hold "OH SADAHARU LEGACY DAY". All The Hawks players will wear the special uniform of number "89" to the game. Through the club, Chairman Wang said, "Although this project is named after me, I feel that it is actually a collection of thoughts accumulated by many people who have been involved in The Hawks, and I am happy that this initiative will serve as an opportunity for The Hawks and sports and baseball to take root naturally in Fukuoka in the future." He commented.
