On the 24th, Rakuten Eagles pitcher Masaya Nishigaki (26) held a public training session at the indoor training facility of Rakuten Eagles Mobile Saikyo Park Miyagi in Sendai City.
Last season, he pitched in a career-high 63 games, recording 7 wins and 1 loss with ERA of 1.96. He supported bullpen. This offseason, he has been working on the themes of continuity and repeatability. "Last year, I changed my form and tried new things, but this year, I've been focusing on repeatability. Rather than trying new things, I've been practicing things that will allow me to maintain good form," he explained.
Nishiguchi may be promoted to the starting pitcher, and Norimoto has also been transferred to The Giants. Nishigaki is expected to be part of win formula, but he is determined to fulfill the role he has been entrusted with. "I don't know if I'd be willing to go anywhere, but I had the experience of being called up in various situations last year, so I would like to go up to mound wherever I'm called up. Rather than aiming to be a winning pattern, I would like to be that way (a winning pattern) in the end," he said emphatically.
He has set a goal of 50 appearances. "I say 50 games every year, and this year I'm aiming for 50 games as well. If I do that, I'll be in the first team for the whole year, so I want to enter the season aiming for 50 games first," he said.
