Orix Buffaloes scout Daisuke Okazaki

On the 18th, Orix Buffaloes scout Daisuke Okazaki (27) gave a talk show in Tokyo titled "A Guidepost to Professional baseball for Parents and Children to Know." The talk was hosted by BASE VANGUARD, which provides career support and management services for athletes, and the audience was captivated by stories of his experiences gained through scouting activities.

Okazaki played in Koshien three times as infielder for Hanasaki Tokuharu High School (Saitama Prefecture) and joined Orix Buffaloes as the third pick in the 2016 draft. After retiring from active play in the 2021 offseason, he became a scout.

Okazaki says he is trying to discover the strengths of each player with the desire to "let as many players as possible wear a professional baseball uniform." To the younger generation who dream of becoming professional baseball players, he advises, "It's important to know yourself. What are your characteristics and strengths? If you do that, you'll also be able to see your weaknesses."

It is extremely rare for an active scout to hold a talk show. Okazaki said, "I hope to convey the fun and greatness of baseball to children. Players also give lectures and baseball clinics, but from the perspective of approaching it from a different angle, I think my profession is the most suitable. If I have the opportunity, I would like to continue doing it."
