On the 9th, Softbank Hawks outfielder Kensuke Kondo opened up his voluntary training in Tokunoshima, Kagoshima. This was his ninth time training there. In the past, he has contributed to the local community by replacing the artificial turf on the training ground at his own expense. This time, he is accepting about four trainer interns per course.
Kondo's personal trainer, Yusuke Umezu, who will be accompanying him on this trip, was the initiator of the initiative. The proposal was born from the voices of the industry, with Kondo readily accepting it. More than 200 people applied through the social baseball count of "Team Amagi," which Kondo leads, and Kondo's personal count.
Apart from the cost of transportation to Tokunoshima, Team Amagi will cover all living expenses. Four people participated on this day, from Pilates, medical, and S&C (strength and conditioning). Umezu also expressed his hope that the initiative will lead to further developments, saying, "I hope this will be a catalyst for something." Kondo's voluntary training is also a valuable experience for those pursuing their dreams.
