Lotte began work on the 5th, with team president Shunsuke Takasaka giving a New Year's greeting to team staff.
Reflecting on last season, in which the team finished last in Pacific League for the first time in eight years with a record of 56 wins, 84 losses, and 3 ties, he said, "It was a very frustrating season to finish last in the league while setting out a vision for the team and the organization in the medium to long term. This result came despite the support and encouragement of many fans and sponsors, and nearly doubling the team's budget compared to before the pandemic, around 2019. It was a very different kind of frustration than when we finished last in the past."
With Manager Saburo as their new commander, the team is aiming to escape from last place this season. "We are facing this result head-on and are working hard to fill in the gaps we are lacking, in order to use this experience to move forward. As a team, we will work together to win the league championship, and we would like to work together with everyone so that we can lift Manager Saburo up in celebration at Zozo Marine Stadium, so I would appreciate your support," he said.
"Furthermore, last year we made two major decisions and declarations of intent. One was the decision to relocate our farm facilities to Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture in 2030. The other was our declaration of intent to consider developing the new Marine Stadium, which is scheduled to open around 2034, as an indoor facility. These two decisions will greatly affect the future of Chiba Lotte Marines and the region. We will work closely with Kimitsu City, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, and various companies, financial institutions, and organizations to create a better future," he said, reiterating his desire to create a more fulfilling environment.
