
On the 26th, Rakuten Eagles announced that former batting coach Taketoshi Goto (45) would be leaving the team. He started this season as the first-team batting coach, but was transferred to the second-team batting coach in June mid-season. In October, it was announced that he would retire as coach at the end of the season and become a team staff member, but he has now decided to leave the team.
At Yokohama High School, he was classmates with former Seibu Lions and Boston Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka (45), and in 1998, his third year, he achieved back-to-back spring and summer championships Koshien. At Hosei University, he achieved the Triple Crown in the spring of his second year. He joined Seibu Lions Lions in the 2002 draft as a free agent. He transferred to the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in 2012 and retired from playing at the end of the 2018 season. He had been with Rakuten Eagles as a coaching staff member since 2019.
