Shumpeita Yamashita

On the 25th, Orix Buffaloes Shumpeita Yamashita pitcher Shunpei Yamashita (23) revealed that he had been "training away from home" in preparation for his comeback next season. He requested his former teammate Masataka Yoshida (Red Sox), and the training was realized under the guidance of former Director-General of the Japan Sports Agency, Koji Murofushi (51). He succeeded in thoroughly strengthening his lower back and hip joints, which were the main reasons for his team's one win this season.

It was a three-day program starting in the middle of this month. For three hours a day, he was immersed in an intense atmosphere. "My lower back doesn't hurt when I'm throwing, and I have almost no anxiety. I'm glad I was able to go." He spent time stretching, and added a "lifting" movement to the end of his barbell squats. The training routine, which involved swinging an iron ball to strengthen his core, was also stimulating.

Yoshida has been studying under Murofushi since his first year as a professional, and he won the gold medal in the men's hammer throw at the Athens Olympics. He gave Yoshida the words of encouragement, saying, "You're weak. You still have a long way to go," and he also received the Murofushi Method. On this day, Yoshida kicked off his voluntary training for the year in Maishima, Osaka. His vision of a strong arm suddenly opened up. (Osada Toru)
