On the 18th, Orix Buffaloes Buffaloes pitcher Daiki Tajima attended contract negotiations at the team's facility in Maishima, Osaka, and signed for an annual salary of 110 million yen, an increase of 10 million yen (estimated amount). This season, he recorded 7 wins (7 losses) as a starter. He win shutout game in the games against Lotte Marines on April 30th and Rakuten Rakuten Eagles on July 16th (both at Kyocera Dome Osaka).

After completing his eighth year as a professional, he told the team that he hopes to challenge the majors in the future. "It's not like I'll just play one year next year and then go straight away," he said, before revealing his thoughts with his own mouth.

"I'm always thinking about what I can do to grow even more. One option is to see how much I can grow in America, but I also want to be in a place where I can truly grow. I wanted to bet on my potential, so I told them."

The left-handed pitcher, who was the first pick in the 2017 draft, will turn 30 in August of next year. "I personally think that completing the season is the foundation, and I hope that we can reach even greater heights, which is something that not only the team but also the fans look forward to every year," he declared.
