On the 18th, Lotte announced that former DeNA pitcher Andre Jackson has joined the team.
The 29-year-old right-hander has been a key part of DeNA's starting rotation this season, posting a 10-7 record with a 2.33 ERA in 25 appearances. In his two seasons with DeNA, he posted a solid record as a starter with 50 appearances, 18 wins and 14 losses, and a 2.60 ERA, but was removed from the reserve list and became the target of a bidding war.
Through the team, he commented, "The days I and my family have spent in Japan have been a great blessing. I am looking forward to this new chapter beginning in Chiba. I want to do my best to contribute to winning the league championship and becoming the best team in Japan. I am excited to be able to build bonds with my teammates and fans."
Manager Saburo expressed his expectations, saying, "He has a proven track record in Japan, having pitched over 293 inning in the two years up to this year, and we have high hopes for him as pitcher will support our rotation throughout the year. His powerful fastball, which can induce strikeouts, and his versatile breaking ball are his weapons, and change-up has a lot of movement, so with the Marine Stadium wind on his side, I think he will be hard to hit. We were looking to acquire starter who could be the core of our rotation, and I think we have added a truly reliable player to our team."
