The wife of Nippon-Ham pitcher Hiromi Ito announced that she gave birth to their first child, a son, in December. Both mother and child are healthy.

Ito commented, "I am filled with joy at the addition of a new member to our family, and with gratitude towards my wife. This is our first time, so we will be feeling our way around, but just as my wife and I received love from our parents, I will shower our child with lots of love and will work hard to make our home full of smiles."

In his personal life, he announced his marriage to an ordinary woman on December 15, 2011.
