Rakuten Eagles outfielder Naoki Sato, who transferred from Softbank Hawks in the active draft, held a joining press conference at Rakuten Eagles Mobile in Sendai City on the 15th.
As the first pick in the 2019 draft, he hit seven Home Run and had 28 RBI in 262 games with The Hawks. After being released from the roster in the offseason of 2011, he started anew in the development team and was re-registered as a regular player in June of last year. This season, he hit five home runs in 104 games, and his transfer came at a time when he was enjoying a "mini-break."
When asked about his impression of the team, Sato said with a laugh, "I heard that if you perform well with The Eagles, you can get 100,000 yen worth Rakuten Eagles points. I want to do my best and make a living from that."
"I don't want to be outdone by anyone in terms of speed or defense. I also want to show off my batting power. I will do my best to aim for a spot on the opening day first team and in the starting starting line-up," he said, showing his determination.
