The event brought together about 40 children, ranging from kindergarteners to sixth-graders.
Together with Chunichi Dragons catcher Taisei Ajitani, he lectured on basic baseball movements such as pitch and catch, and also demonstrated his own powerful tee batting. "It's rare for a baseball clinic to be held in my hometown, so I'm happy. I hope that more and more people will take up baseball. I came here for that reason (to increase the number of players), so I hope that even a few people will become interested in baseball," he said.
This season, having been appointed as a "Habikino Support Ambassador," he reached the required number of plate appearances for the first time as the starting second baseman. He posted a batting average of .283, fourth in the league, and recorded career highs of 10 Home Run and 52 RBI. "First and foremost, performing well in baseball is the best way to promote myself. If people get to know me, then the fact that I'm from Habikino will naturally come into play. I'll focus on doing my best in baseball first, and then I'd like to contribute in ways like this during the off-season," he said, vowing to make further progress.
