Lotte's new player announcement event was held on the 11th at the Lotte headquarters in Tokyo, with 10 new players and manager Saburo in attendance.
The manager, standing on the stage with the rookies in their uniforms, revealed his honest impression, saying, "I think they look a bit thin. I don't know if the uniforms don't fit them as well as they do on TV, but I think they have room to grow."
He continued, "From here on, he will gradually gain muscle and I think the ball he will be able to throw will become faster and fly further. I want him to eat. I think it starts with getting his body big. You won't get bigger if you don't eat, so I want him to eat. I also ate a lot. I had a hard time gaining weight, but I ate. Even on the farm team, kids who can't eat will grow slower than players who can eat, no matter how hard they try to lift weights, so I want them to eat. So that the food will turn into muscle." He spoke from his experience about the importance of diet as the rookies begin to build their professional bodies.
