
Rakuten Eagles announced on the 11th that Yuya Fukui (37) and Tomoki Sato (25), both former players for Rakuten Eagles, will be joining the academy as coaches.
Fukui was a right-handed pitcher at Waseda University, known as one of the "Three Musketeers of Waseda" along with Yuki Saito (formerly Nippon-Ham) and Tatsuya Oishi (formerly Seibu Lions). He joined Hiroshima as the first overall pick in the 2010 draft and spent four years with Rakuten Eagles from 2019. After that, he played for Fukushima in the BC League and served as a coach from 2024. He commented, "I would like to use my experience in professional baseball and independent leagues, including my four years with Rakuten Eagles, to convey the fun and greatness of baseball to the next generation of children. Thank you for your support."
Sato is a left-handed pitcher who joined the team in 2018 as the fifth pick in the draft from Yamagata Chuo High School. He played for Honda Suzuka in amateur baseball for two years starting in 2024. He commented, "I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to be involved with the team again, where I was a player until two years ago. With gratitude in my heart for everyone who has supported me so far, I will dedicate myself to the growth of children and work with all my might to liven up Tohoku through baseball."
