Seibu Lions infielder Taiyo Sato (22) went to the team office in Tokorozawa, Saitama, on the 10th to renew his contract and signed for 6 million yen, an increase of 2 million yen (estimated amount).
He joined Seibu Lions as the second pick in last fall's development draft and was promoted to the regular team in July. In his rookie year, he played in 13 games, recording 5 hit, 3 RBI and a batting average of .167. He reflected, "It was a year in which I was able to have a truly amazing experience, but it was also a year in which I was made painfully aware of the areas in which I still lack."
He participated in the 2025 Asia Winter Baseball League held in Taiwan from November 15th to December 7th, where he was reunited with Softbank Hawks 's Shoji, with whom he played second base and shortstop at Kanagawa University. He vowed to "play in more games than Shoji and do well" next season.
