Shota Hiranuma has been transferred Orix Buffaloes

Orix Buffaloes acquired Hiranuma from Seibu Lions. Although he is registered outfielder, he is a versatile player who can play at all infield positions except shortstop. His strong hitting ability is also appealing, and he is known as an "Orix killer" as he recorded the highest batting average of .344 against Orix Buffaloes this season.

Hiranuma will be in his 11th year with the team next season, having been traded from Nippon-Ham to Seibu Lions midway through the 2021 season. GM Fukura commented, "We've been doing pretty well this year, so that was the impression I had." He is also a valuable pinch hitter, and manager Kishida expressed his hopes for him, saying, "He's a player with a bright future, so I hope he'll do his best with us."

It was during his time with Tsuruga Kehi that he attracted professional attention as pitcher. He has many fellow students, including Yamazaki, who is one year younger than him, Nishikawa, Yamada, and former player Yoshida Tadashi (Red Sox). Hiranuma himself commented through Seibu Lions Lions, "I found myself looking forward to playing for Orix Buffaloes." This will be an interesting addition to the team's quest for their first championship in three years. (Osada Toru)
