On the 9th, Nippon-Ham announced that in the active player draft held that day Keito Matsuura had been transferred to The Giants and that they had acquired Daiki Kikuchi from The Giants.
Matsuura commented through the team, "I'm surprised by this sudden decision, but I'm happy to be able to join The Fighters, a team I've been a fan of since I was in elementary school. I remember feeling truly happy when I put on jersey I had always dreamed of wearing when I was a The Fighters Junior. Although it's only been four years since I joined the team, I wanted to be a piece of the team that was aiming to win the championship. I believe that this opportunity has broadened the scope for me to shine. I see this as an opportunity, and I will do my best with my new team, believing in my potential and being able to demonstrate my abilities. Thank you so much to all the fans for your warm support so far. I will do my best to earn your continued support."
Matsuura joined Nippon-Ham as the seventh pick in the 2021 draft. He pitched in six games for the first team over four years, but did not pitch in the first team this season. However, he pitched in 19 games for the farm team this season, with a record of two wins and two losses and ERA of 3.41. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of Eito Tanaka, who was transferred to The Giants in last year's active player draft and made a breakthrough.
