He joined the team from The Giants in a trade with pitcher Ryusei Oe in May infielder Richard. He played in 22 games, batting .280 with one Home Run and four RBI.
In June, he showed great performances, even going up to the podium in three consecutive games, but after being removed from the player roster on July 3rd, he was unable to be promoted back to the first team. He did not participate in the celebrations for winning the league championship, lifting the team up in celebration of becoming Japan's best team, or celebrating the victory. Last season, while playing for The Giants, he was removed from the roster when the team won the championship, and was therefore unable to take part in the beer shower. Since December, he has been training under Hotaka Yamakawa as an apprentice, working hard to improve his batting. He is scheduled to join The Giants pitcher Sakamoto Hayato's training in January of next year.
