On the 2nd, Orix Hiroya Miyagi pitcher Daiya Miyagi (24) revealed that he is working on "natural weight loss" in order to reach a new career high next season. This season, he has maintained his personal best of 90-91 kg, and strike out rate (9.88) is the best in the league. While he has acquired a powerful pitch, he has also experienced back problems. "I'm trying to reduce the burden a little," he said, and is currently weighing 88 kg. He is currently eating only 80% of his body weight.

"When I looked at myself objectively, I noticed that I was dodging more pitch. I wanted to do something about it," he said, and has been conscious of increasing his weight since last year. He also set a goal of strike out, recording a career-high 165. He only managed seven wins for the second year in a row, and has not pitched a complete game this season. "For me, a challenge is a challenge," he said, and his ideal is to fight through the season at 87 kg, maintaining his power without any withdrawals.

He doesn't restrict his diet too much, and he does eat sweets in moderation. "I'm about 80% full. My stomach may have shrunk... I've grown up a bit," he said with a smile. On this day, he checked his condition at Maishima in Osaka. He plans to do his own training alone during the off-season, and looked ahead, saying, "I want to get results while striving for quality." Apart from the Rookie of the Year award in 2021, he is yet to win a title. An ace who has eliminated his blind spots is strong. (Osada Toru)
