It was revealed on the 28th that Nippon-Ham will acquire outfielder Haruki Nishikawa (33), who was released from Yakult Swallows. The deal is expected to be announced as early as next week.

Nishikawa, who played for Nippon-Ham from 2011 to 2021, was a four-time stolen base leader, two-time Best Nine selection, and four-time Golden Glove Award winner, and contributed greatly to the team's Japan championship in 2016 as a speedy and skillful outfielder. He was also one of the most popular players, but in the offseason of 2021, the team announced that they would be "non-tendering" him, meaning that their contract would not be put on hold. He became a free agent and transferred to Rakuten, but was released in the offseason of 2023 and transferred to Yakult.

Nippon-Ham 's Go Matsumoto, who also served as the players' association president, moved to The Giants as a free agent. While there are fielder in their 30s, Nakajima and Ishii, who have both declared free agency, the team has no Japanese outfielder left. Nishikawa is expected to not only be a valuable asset, but also to support the team as a veteran.
