On the 28th, Seibu announced that they had reached an agreement with outfielder Masashi Kuwahara (32), who had exercised his overseas free agent rights from DeNA, to join the team.
Kuwahara joined Yokohama as the fourth pick in the 2011 draft from Fukuchiyama Seibi High School. He played in 143 games in 2017 and was named MVP in the 2024 Japan Series. This season, he has played in 106 games, hitting six Home Run, 27 RBI, and a batting average of .284.
Hiroike, the team's general manager, expressed his expectations through the team, saying, "He has particularly outstanding offensive numbers, especially in batting and base running, and I believe he will be a player who will make a significant contribution to the team. Furthermore, one of his charms is his attitude of always putting his determination to win at the forefront when he plays. I believe his presence will bring good stimulation to the team and further increase our competitive spirit."
