Nippon-Ham Fighters pitcher Nao Miyanishi went to ESCON on the 28th to renew his contract and signed for 65 million yen (estimated amount), maintaining his current contract.

This season he pitched in 31 games, with one win, one loss, 12 hold, and ERA 3.20. He has also pitched in 900 games, but he has his sights set on next season, saying, "There is a lot to build up, so it's not just this year, but this year I'm approaching the 900 games that I've been given by my boss, so I would be sorry if I don't put up explosive results next season to make those 900 games meaningful."

He was taken off the roster for the CS and moved to support. While he considered it a good experience that gave him a new perspective, he said, "My juniors were fighting such heated battles in the CS. At first I thought I wouldn't think anything of it, but it was surprisingly frustrating. I guess they still have a fighting spirit. The biggest thing for me was feeling frustrated."

Looking ahead to his 19th season as a professional, he said, "I want to aim for one more championship, lift my boss up in the air and end on a good note." When pressed about the meaning of "end," he said, "I won't know (if it means retirement) until the time comes. However, my ideal situation right now is to end my career on a good note."
