Nippon-Ham pitcher Yukiya Saito renewed his contract at ESCON on the 28th, signing for 55 million yen (estimated amount), an increase of 30 million yen.

This season, he pitched in 47 games, with one win, two losses, three saves, 14 hold, and ERA 1.35. He also served as closer from the final stages of the season through the postseason, earning the trust of the management.

The right-handed pitcher, who turns 31 in January, revealed his exchange with the team, saying, "I told them I'm not yet at my best. I feel I have room to grow, so I asked them to keep an eye on me from now on."

This season he broke his own record with a speed of 161 km/h. He has set his goal at 165 km/h and said, "I think it's important to have the determination to throw it. Wherever you set your goal, I think it's important to set it a little higher. I want to train with the determination to throw it (165 km/h) next year."
